Acne is the bane of adolescents and women all over the world. It is a common skin problem and is most prevalent amongst adolescents. This appears as red or white pimples or as blackheads that can leave temporary scars on the face, chest and back. Many serious forms leave the face pockmarked. During adolescence, the oil secreting glands in the skin produce excessive amounts of sebum, the oily secretion that protects and lubricates the skin. Because of this the follicle openings in the skin get clogged with trapped sebum and get sealed by normal coloured skin, creating infection and inflammation. |
