What is CLEARGEN?
CLEARGEN is a potent anti-oxidant also having anti-bacterial properties.
CLEARGEN is a proprietary standardised extract of Garcinia Mangostana, more commonly known as Mangosteen. Mangosteen is referred to as the Queen of Fruits in South East Asia.
Mangosteen contains a class of compounds called as Xanthones, which are potent anti-oxidants. Xanthones have also been demonstrated to have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Published studies have shown the efficacy of Mangosteen Extracts in the following areas: |
|
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
Anti-Bacterial Activity - Stimulates Phagocyte Cells and Kills Intra-Cellular Bacteria. [1]
Anti-Fungal Activity - Shows good inhibitory activity against the fungi Fusarium Oxysporum Vasinfectum, Alternaria Tenuis and Dreschlera Oryzae. [2]
Anti-Inflammatory Activity
Potent Inhibitor of COX-2 and COX-1 enzymes. [3]
Can inhibit release of Histamine and Prostaglandin E2 synthesis [4]
CLEARGEN was an extract developed from the rind of Mangosteen, designed for skin care applications. Mangosteen has been traditionally used for skin care in South East Asia. It was used to treat various skin infections and to provide a smooth, blemishless appearance to the skin. Folklore also has it that it is an effective tool for controlling acne, especially pimples, lesions, rashes etc.
CLEARGEN showed potent inhibitory activity against Propionibacterium Acnes in in-vitro studies. In addition to P.Acnes, CLEARGEN also showed potent inhibitory activity against E.Coli, Bacillus Subtitlis, Staphylococcus Aureus and Salmonella Albany.
A 28 day human trial on acne prone subjects has shown statistically significant reduction in Comedones, Pustules, Papules, Microcysts and Lesions.
